Los Angeles Fashion Week 2006: Morphine Generation
Morphine Generation, which launched as a T-shirt company in a dark garage in Summer 2003, has since evolved into a full rock ’n’ roll lifestyle line. Titled “A New Romantic Collapse,” the collection bowed on the runway March 20 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios.
Designer Erik Hart used the music of Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Tones on Tail and Slayer to help inspire the collection.
New this season were tailored military styled peacoats and capelets, jackets and skinny jeans in dark Japanese denim, and distressed angora and cashmere sweaters. The look was rock ’n’ roll-meets-sophistication with clean lines and edgy graphics. There were several fun fashion pieces including a red tartan plaid high-waisted sailor skirt, a cute black-pleated mini and a sexy toile print silk dress and, of course, plenty of T-shirts.
And Hart has plans to continue to expand the rock ’n’roll lifestyle look. “I’m looking at longevity. I want to be doing this 10, 20, 30, 40 years from now,” he said. —N. Jayne Seward
