Jones On the Block?
New York–based Jones Apparel Group Inc. announced that its board of directors is considering selling the company and has retained Goldman, Sachs & Co. to assist in the process. The board left open the possibility that it will not sell the company and clarified that the company is not interested in divesting any of its divisions. Jones is the owner of several international brands, including the Jones New York Collection, Anne Klein New York, AK Anne Klein, Nine West, Kasper, Albert Nipon, l.e.i., Energie, Glo Jeans, Norton McNaughton, Rena Rowan, Gloria Vanderbuilt and Nine & Co. The company also produces licensed apparel under the Dockers, J.G. Hook and Givenchy Jewelry brands.
