FBI Brings Gerber Software to Tech Lab
Tolland, Conn.–based Gerber Technology has joined forces with trade organization Fashion Business Inc. to provide FBI’s Los Angeles–based tech center with product-development management software and participate in future workshops for the industry.
Gerber, whose West Coast offices are based in Cerritos, Calif., produces cutting-room equipment and design software for the sewn-products industries.
FBI provides training and business consulting to up-and-coming apparel companies.
Gerber will install its WebPDM software, used by leading manufacturers and retailers, in the FBI lab. WebPDM manages spec data, costing and other steps in the sample-making process. FBI plans to conduct educational classes and job training in WebPDM, geared to helping those seeking jobs in the apparel industry.
Gerber also recently announced that it has signed Hayward, Calif.–based retailer Mervyns LLC as a licensee for WebPDM. The product is also part of Gerber’s new Fashion Lifecycle Management (FLM) suite, a Web-based collaborative workflow management system aimed at streamlining product development.
Gerber and FBI are hosting a rollout event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 13 at FBI in The New Mart, 127 E. 9th St., Suite 212, in Los Angeles. To attend, call (800) 826-3243, Ext. 3851. —Robert McAllister
