Herald Tribune's Luxury Conference
The International Herald Tribune, the international edition of The New York Times, will host the sixth run of its annual fashion and luxury conference in Istanbul, Turkey. Suzy Menkes, fashion editor of the Herald Tribune, will chair the Dec. 6–8 conference. Bernard Fornas, president of Cartier International, will give the event’s keynote address. Istanbul was chosen as the venue because of Turkey’s position as both a supplier and consumer of luxury goods, according to Menkes, who called Istanbul “a city that founded the concept of the [luxury] market in the former Ottoman Empire.” Sponsors of the conference include the International Fur Trade Federation, Elite Traveler and Global Luxury Living.
