Class-Action Suit for Polo

Two San Francisco law firms have filed a class-action suit against the Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. on behalf of four former retail employees who say the company violated several California labor laws. The suit, filed in San Francisco Superior Court by attorneys Patrick R. Kitchin and Daniel Feder, charges that Polo used fraud to entice former employees Ann Otsuka, Janis Keefe, Corrine Phipps and Justin Kiser to work for the company and then violated laws regarding overtime pay and rest breaks. The employees are seeking unpaid wages, penalties and punitive damages. This is the second case brought against Polo in California by clients of Kitchin and Feder. In 2002, a former employee of Polo’s San Francisco store brought a class-action suit against the company for requiring its employees to buy and wear Polo clothes while on the job. That trial is awaiting a decision by the United States District Court in San Francisco.
