Miami Runway Report: Rosa Cha by Amir Slama
Fairytale dreams and World Cup wishes—that’s what Rosa Chaacute;’s Resort ’07 collection was made of. Amir Slama designed the collection after envisioning what a princess might wear if she awoke from a deep sleep in the midst of World Cup soccer. The Brazilian designer opened the second annual Sunglass Hut Swim Shows Miami Presented by Lycra on July 15 in Miami Beach with his conceptual collection of couture lingerie–inspired swimwear. A romantic spirit characterized the beginning of his show, with lace swimwear and corsetry reminiscent of medieval times in off-white and pale-pink tones. As the story transitioned into present day, soccer regalia took the stage in Brazil’s national colors of navy blue, green and gold. It was a melding of lace, football jerseys, Brazilian flag prints and ribbed gold athletic trims on sexy underwire tops and athletic boyshorts. Special fabrics were developed for the collection, including an RC-logo jacquard, silk/Lycra fabrics and lace sturdy enough for the water. —N. Jayne Seward
