Liz, Mac & Jac
New York–based manufacturer Liz Claiborne Inc. purchased Westcoast Contempo Fashions Limited and Mac and Jac Holdings Limited for approximately $23.6 million. The Vancouver- based company was founded in 1985 and produces the Mac & Jac, Kenzie and Kenziegirl labels, which are sold in specialty stores, as well as Nordstrom, Macy’s, Marshall Field’s, Dillard’s and Hudson’s Bay. The company also has two Kenzie retail stores in Seattle and Santa Monica, Calif., and operates 40 Mac & Jac retail stores in China through a joint venture. Santa Monica–based The Sage Group LLC acted as exclusive financial adviser to Mac & Jac in the transaction. This is the fourth apparel company The Sage Group has sold to Liz Claiborne. Sage’s prior deals with Liz include Prana, Juicy Couture and C&C California.
