Nilit and Invista Strike Deal for European Nylon Business

Israel-based Nilit, maker of Sensil-branded polyamide fibers, has struck an agreement with fiber maker Invista to acquire Invista’s nylon apparel plant in Oestringen, Germany.

According to the agreement, Nilit also will buy nylon from Invista’s facility in Gloucester, England.

In return, Nilit will now hold the exclusive license to several Invista trademarks for Tactel, Cordura and Supplex, in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.Invista’s European interiors and performance fibers divisions are not included in the deal.Terms of the deal, which is expected to be completed by the end of February, were not disclosed.

Invista is a division of Wichita, Kan.–based Koch Industries. The company’s fiber and polymer business comprises five divisions: apparel, interiors, intermediates, performance fibers, and polymer and resins. Among the company’s brands are Lycra, Coolmax, Dacron, Thermolite, Antron and Polarguard. —Alison A. Nieder
