New York Fashion Week Fall ’06: Trovata
The Orange County, Calif.–based wonder boys of Trovata presented their highly anticipated collections of men and women’s fashions on Feb. 8. Their first outing since landing the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award in November, the show was their second at New York Fashion Week. The quartet—Jeff Halmos, Sam Shipley, John Whitledge and Josia Lamberto-Egan—showed more of their old-money-fallen-on-hard-times aesthetic on the runway. Shrunken suits, trim knits and prep school blazers complete with patches were key pieces for men. Tiny tweed pea coats tied with bows, simple shimmering frocks worn under toggle-button coats, and slouchy trousers were standouts in the women’s collection. —Erin Barajas
