New Balance Goes Nano
New Balance Performance Outerwear, a new licensee of New Balance Athletic Shoe Co., is using nanotechnology in its Circa V outerwear line.
The vintage-inspired Circa V line is made with Nano-Tex Outdoor, a treatment that provides durability and water repellency. The line bowed at the Outdoor Retailer trade show in Salt Lake City in January.
The collection features nine outerwear styles for men and women, including parkas, puffer coats, bomber jackets and down vests made in cotton and synthetic fabrics. Once treated with Nano-Tex Outdoor, the fabrics are liquid-repellent and stain-resistant.
Emeryville, Calif.–based Nano-Tex develops and markets textile treatments made with nanotechnology. The company has operations in Belgium, China, the United Kingdom, India, Italy, South Korea and Turkey and works with more than 80 textile mills to provide its products for use in apparel and interiors products for brands such as Gap, Old Navy, Target, Hugo Boss, Lee, Nike, Champion, Levi Strauss & Co. and Simmons.
