Henry III: Focusing on Fit and Philanthropy
Getting the right-fitting pair of jeans has always been a challenge for retailers and their customers. The designers behind Dallas-based Henry III Generation think they have found a solution.
Designer Angie Ahmadi- Miller has created a silhouette featuring a longer and leaner profile, giving a little lift to the rear profile. The pants are made with Italian denim, have lasting fit-memory, and do not stretch out or lose shape after numerous washings and wear, said Ahmadi-Miller. The result is a fit that looks great, even for those with a less-thanperfect figure, she added.
The start-up label debuted at the Goss Gallery in Dallas in October. The company has signed on Trisha Arden to become its West Coast rep and has landed 75 accounts in the past month including Neiman Marcus.
The Spring ’07 launch features about six styles in boot, straight and skinny cuts. Wholesale price points range from the low $80s to $118. There are also skirts and shorts ranging in wholesale price from $59 to $72.
The company is teaming with Los Angeles–based Jean Mart Inc. to help build the line. Jean Mart has worked with the likes of Lucky Brand, Marciano and Bebe.
The fit and craftsmanship behind the line are only half the story of Henry III, said Ahmadi-Miller.
The designer took a long road to launch Henry III, named after her husband, who is also chief executive officer. She was forced to leave Afghanistan when she was 7, following the invasion by the former Soviet Union. She took a journey that led her in the back of trucks, on horseback and foot through Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and India before finding refuge.
To help others who faced similar situations, the company has established a foundation committed to supporting efforts that build schools, homes and hospitals for the millions of women and children presently suffering in Afghanistan.
Ahmadi-Miller’s story as well as her jeans have already attracted a big celebrity following, with several stars turning out for a recent Afghanistan benefit.
