Northern California Fashion Designers Get Their Chance to Shine

San Francisco Fashion Week is a relatively new event that is gearing up for its third season in the Bay Area. It is organized to showcase the various local designers—and a few out-of-towners—whose couture gowns, flirty dresses, skirts, men’s casualwear and swimwear will be displayed on the runway Aug. 23–27.

The show was launched in 2004 by Mystery Girl Productions, which still produces it. Last year the show was held at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre. This year it moves to the Galleria at the San Francisco Design Center, where 18 designers will take part in the four days of runway shows.

Returning for the second year in a row is the Emerging Stars show, featuring 16 of San Francisco’s young design students from the area.

The show will kick off with creations by some of San Francisco’s more notable designers, such as Colleen Quen and Lily Samii.

This year, many of the designers’ wardrobe collections can be bought on the Internet at www.fashionbliss.com.

The shows are open to the public, and ticket prices range from $25.99 per day for students to $150 per day for VIP tickets, which include seating at all the night’s shows, admissions to parties and the Fashion Week Boutique, complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and a gift bag.
