Moving Over
Rob Portman, who has been U.S. trade representative for a little more than a year, has been nominated by President Bush to be the new director of the Office of Management and Budget. Bush nominated deputy trade representative Susan Schwab to replace Portman. Both nominations have to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate. The trade representative’s office has been a stepping stone to higher office. The previous representative, Robert Zoellick, was named as Condoleezza Rice’s deputy at the State Department.
