YMI Sets the Mood
YMI Jeanswear International, a Los Angeles–based junior denim brand, staged a fashion show April 4 for its Fall looks to take advantage of visiting buyers and retailers in town for the Los Angeles Majors Market. The party at Mood, a Hollywood hot spot, drew a mixed crowd of fashion watchers, buyers and friends of the brand.
Looks on the runway ranged from sexy night-out jersey tops and slim denim to tomboy-style relaxed jeans and shrunken striped T-shirts. Military themes were seen in the form of camouflage mini skirts, cropped green pants and fitted armygreen jackets laden with brass buttons. Safari-inspired cropped khaki pants were paired with a belted jacket. Embroidered appliqueacute;s dressed up slinky tops.
YMI’s denim was long and lean, with a few exceptions. A collection of colored denim was faded and splattered with paint. The brand’s tops were long and fitted with such girly touches as lace edging and ruffles. —Erin Barajas
