Westfield to Add Condos in Century City

Los Angeles–based shopping center developer Westfield USA is jumping on the latest trend in real estate by building 260 condominiums at its Westfield Century City shopping center complex.

Company officials said the $500 million project calls for the demolition of two office buildings to make way for the residential space and construction of 360,000 square feet of new retail space as part of a 42-story tower at Avenue of the Stars and Santa Monica Boulevard.

Construction won’t begin for at least a year, while Westfield goes through the entitlement process. The project is expected be completed in about four years. —Robert McAllister
