NBA Puts On Its Adidas
The National Basketball Association has struck an 11-year merchandising deal with Adidas, making the German apparel and footwear maker the official uniform and apparel provider for the NBA, the NBA Development League and the Women’s National Basketball Association. The partnership begins with the 2006–07 NBA season. Earlier this year, Herzogenaurach, Germany–based Adidas acquired Reebok International Ltd., which has been providing uniforms and apparel to the NBA since 2001. The NBA and Adidas plan to open an NBA Store on New York’s Fifth Avenue, as well as an Adidas- NBA in-store concept shop that will serve as a prototype for future global retail development. Additionally, NBA products will be sold at retailers carrying Adidas merchandise and in Adidas’ 2,100 stores in China.
