CMC Security Stops Showroom Burglary
An attempted burglary at about 9 a.m. on April 5 was foiled at the L’Atelier showroom on the fifth floor of the California Market Center, according to a CMC representative.
Building security stopped the burglars, nothing was damaged and the property was recovered, the representative said.
Details of the attempt, including the identities and number of suspects involved, were not disclosed. The incident was not reported to the Los Angeles Police Department. L’Atelier showroom representatives did not respond to an interview request.
Crime is rare at the CMC, said Julie Nomy, LAPD’s senior lead officer for the Fashion District.
“It’s a pretty secure location,” Nomy said. “They got five banks there. Every once in a while you get false alarms.”
The majority of burglaries reported at the Fashion District take place in stores surrounding the district’s Santee Alley, Nomy said.
