Nordstrom to Expand in Bay Market
Nordstrom will build a new 149,000-square-foot store at the Stoneridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton, Calif., replacing an older, smaller store in the center.
The current store will be converted into separate specialty stores in addition to a 75,000-square-foot theater complex.
Nordstrom will build adjacent to the space. The expansion is expected to be completed in phases between fall 2007 and spring 2009, according to Stoneridge owners The Mills Corp., based in Arlington, Va.
“We were planning a major remodel, but when we were given the opportunity to build a brand-new store with our latest in design concepts, we felt that this was the best option,” said Erik Nordstrom, executive vice president of Full-Line Stores for Nordstrom, in a statement.
Macy’s, JC Penney and Sears also anchor the 1.3-million-square-foot mall located 30 miles east of San Francisco. —Robert McAllister
