Vision for Spring 2006
Fashion shows were a daily occurrence at the MAGIC Marketplace, held Aug. 29–Sept. 1 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Vision: The Men’s and Women’s Contemporary Collections Spring 2006 fashion show provided a sampling of the contemporary market within the MAGIC Marketplace trade show, which now includes more than 3,600 exhibitors and 5,000 brands and private labels.
The fashion show opened with the latest in Western cool. Voom, Guess Jeans, Martini Ranch and Western Denim were among those showcasing Western-inspired looks, including shirts, jeans, dresses and T-shirts.
A second group featured a range of jackets, including Members Only–style looks, warm-up varieties and madras-print blazers for men. Military looks, key for Spring, featured fourpocket jackets for men and army-green blazers with gold buttons for women.
Feminine lace looks by companies such as Jessica McClintock, Papillon and Kenzie Girl showed the softer side of Spring. Clean white styles—including linen pants, vests, and cotton eyelet tops and skirts—were fresh looks for women.
Taking casual fashion to the edge, a fourth group featured T-shirts with splattered paint and graphic skull designs paired with the latest in distressed and destroyed denim styles. Ed Hardy’s “Love Kills Slowly” tee and “Devil” cropped jean epitomized the look.
Ethnic-inspired looks rounded out the show with clean casual styling. Swimwear styles in metallics and tribal prints were paired with bohemianinspired sportswear for the finale. —N. Jayne Seward
