San Francisco Fashion Week '05: Colleen Quen Couture
San Francisco designer Colleen Quen named her eveningwear and bridal collection “Empresses New Clothes” for its majestic colors and fine fabrics. Quen chose a variety of silk, lace and ribbon details for her collection. Her signature look featured evening dresses paired with long coats. One look, an ivory strapless mini-dress with orange cutout appliqueacute;s and a matching cape coat, was inspired by the 1960s. A burgundy square-neck ball gown with deep waist pleats and a highcollar silk evening gown worn with a wrap were voluptuous. Quen’s collection featured several exotic pieces, including a tiger-print silk chiffon cocktail dress and a zebra-print silk chiffon mini-dress. “It’s always great to have an animal-print dress in your closet,” the designer said.
