L.A. Fashion Week Spring '06: J'aime
Los Angeles–based lingerie line J’aime took its first satindraped steps to becoming a complete fashion label at its runway show on Oct. 18 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios.
Designer Jaime Pressly, the 28-year-old actor and regular cover girl of lads’ magazines such as Stuff, introduced casual and streetwear looks for J’aime, her 2-year-old lingerie line.
Downtown funk met uptown sass in J’aime’s Spring look. Models sported “Shaft”-style Afros, and hip-hop music boomed from the show’s sound system.
The collection included bandeau tops layered under oneshoulder blouson tunics, backless T-shirts, and outfits composed of bikini tops and genie shorts. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the designer showed a loose-fitting silk paisley dress that looked as if it aspired to cocktailwear. The show also included a preview of swimwear for the Summer 2006 collection, including triangle-top styles and creations with asymmetric straps. —Andrew Asch
