Leila Ross L.A.
The New Mart Suite 1003 (213) 488-9833
Not too long ago, Leila Ross’ showroom was suffering through a mid-life crisis. She had been carrying basically the same group of lines for as long as eight years and suddenly decided to take a risk and “clean out the closet.”
The veteran Intersection tenant, who has been based in The New Mart for 11 years and, before that, at the California Market Center for five, brought in an entirely new assortment of products over the last eight weeks.
From the eclectic tops of Bon Bon Rouge to the deconstructed looks of House of Moyeacute;, the mix is more contemporary and spans from simple to cutting edge.
“Our customers are excited to see what we’re doing,” said Ross.
New lines include Winged Victory, a set of casual tops and skirts from Eletra Casadei; Danabella, a California line featuring crocheted tops with a variety of embellishments such as seashells; and Idee, another local company that produces seamless garments using tubular construction on sheer nylon and Modals.
Callixta is one of two Asian-produced lines in the showroom. The Fall lineup featured cashmere tops with embroidery and emblems with English crests and medieval themes.
Bon Bon Rouge, priced from the $50s, has been the catalyst of the showroom so far, said Ross. “It’s an eclectic mix of trends. You’ll have a cargo pocket on a top, lingerie looks, lots of lace, crochets, wood beads and even some vintage looks. There are lots of vests. Some have a pirate look to them.” —Robert McAllister
