Designer Sale Raises $55,000+ for Hurricane Relief

Local designer brands brought out the savvy shoppers at the California Designers’ Bayou Benefit sale on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Cooper Design Space in downtown Los Angeles, where organizers raised more than $55,000 for hurricane relief.

All the merchandise was donated, including 10,000 pieces from Warnaco Swim Group, whose president, Roger Williams, spearheaded the effort to organize the sale.

Other companies that donated merchandise to the sale included Trina Turk, Trovata, Saja, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, Great China Wall, Hale Bob, Johnny Was and JW Los Angeles, American Apparel, Mason by Michelle Mason, Coco Kliks, Corey Lynn Calter, Lotta, Louis Verdad, Sage, Development, Taryn Rose,Wendy Hill, J.P. & Mattie, Edward An, Karen Kane, Roar, Stop Staring!, Ruth, Lily McNeal, Sue Wong, Laundry, Hot Kiss, Fibers by Barbara Lesser and Knitworks/Design Zone. Denim resources included Antik Denim, Agave Jeans, Edun, Chip & Pepper, Yanuk, Mogg Jeans and Level 99.

All proceeds from the two-day sale will be donated to the American Red Cross to help the victims of the recent Gulf Coast hurricanes. In addition to Warnaco Swim Group, other sponsors included California Fashion Association, California Apparel News, the Los Angeles Fashion District and the Cooper Design Space.
