L.A. Fashion Week Spring '06: Szulika
Monica Nahum of Los Angeles–based Szulika is returning to her signature styling, focusing on feminine, modern shapes for Spring ’06. She showed her looks during the P.KaBu runway series Oct. 21 in the Twin Springs building in downtown Los Angeles.
The designer featured two categories, one with softer knits, rayons and jersey for asymmetrical tops, floral dresses and palazzo pants. Another category featured crisp cotton voile with subtle prints of egrets on blouson tops, halters, blouses and skirts. Lurex striping was a prominent detail in the collection. Stitching and braiding accents were also abundant. Nahum used soft Pima cotton stretch poplins so everything was relaxed. It’s day-to-evening wear with a bit of a sophisticated edge.
