L.A. Fashion Week Spring '06: Sharagano

This season, Sharagano offered plenty of suggestions for what to wear with sexy, low-rise denim. The result was on the runway Oct. 22 at the P.KaBu runway series.

The Spring ’06 collection is a collaboration between designers Monah Li and Rokhsan Enanoria, who has since left the company to relaunch her denim collection, Huzzi.

Highlights included a puff-sleeve fitted jacket that was offered in chambray with embroidery and in dark denim with contrast piping. A cropped jacket with diagonally placed pockets had a ruffled train, and pinstriped cargo knickers were embellished with embroidered flowers. Enanoria’s denim expertise was evident in the sleek, sexy cut of the jeans. And a fuchsia surplice dress with velvet trim was pure Li.

The designer shuttered her signature Monah Li label to join Twin Concepts, owner of the Sharagano, Western Denim and Spy Zone Exchange lines, earlier this year. She worked first with Spy Zone Exchange designer Jacky Elkaim before joining the Sharagano team in June. Li said the Sharagano label is a good fit with her own design style and, as a result, she was able to incorporate many of her Monah Li styles into the Sharagano line.

“The identity of the Sharagano customer is not really junior, it’s more contemporary and classy,” she said. —Alison A. Nieder
