L.A. Fashion Week Spring '06: Meghan
Meghan Fabulous’ Spring line is as whimsical as her name. She showed it Oct. 20 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios.
The Orange County–reared designer incorporates influences from her high school years when Rasta ruled, but she also went back before her time and brought in some ’50s-bombshell looks with silk satin swing dresses featuring bright oversized bows, all in rich blues and reds. The prints were also colorful and vivid on her “Charisse” cotton halter dress, featuring a jigsaw-puzzle pattern. A striking flamenco-dancer print stood out on a “Senorita” dress.
Meghan accentuated feminine looks on her printed tunics and a silk chiffon “Lola” dress that were detailed with plenty of lace. The designer also incorporated some irreverent sportswear in the form of cotton track jackets and hoodies with her name spelled out in Gothic lettering. Her cotton tank dresses were embellished with worlds including “Liar” and “Muse.” Rounding out the set were camis, butterfly tops and short shorts. —Robert McAllister
