L.A. Fashion Week Spring '06: Maggie Barry
Maggie Barry paid homage to Sergio Leone and the spaghetti Western with a collection of modern sexy Western silhouettes during her show at the P.KaBu runway series on Oct. 21.
The Silver Lake–based designer took a detour from her usual evening/cocktail wear with lots of leather goods in the form of deerskin tops, leather patchwork pants, fringed ponchos and cowgirl shirts. She also featured denim in fulllength gowns and on a corset dress.
In addition to the Western silhouettes, Barry included other styles within her Maggie Barry Collection and Black Label divisions that featured more of her signature ruching, ruffles and slit constructions. Highlights included a ruffled baby-doll dress in blue; a ruffled and ruched tube top with canary-yellow pencil skirt and a cutout tube dress in red. —Robert McAllister
