Maersk Buys P&O Nedlloyd
Denmark-based shipping company AP Moller-Maersk A/S announced plans to acquire Netherlands-based shipping firm Royal P&O Nedlloyd for approximately $3 billion. The deal merges the largest shipper (Maersk) with the third-largest shipper (P&O Nedlloyd), creating a megashipper with a fleet of more than 450 container ships and more than 1 million containers.
