Wins Ruling
A San Francisco Superior Court judge issued a tentative decision in which Wins of California, Win Industries of America and Win Fashions would have to pay $956,112 in back wages and $284,900 in waiting-time penalties stemming from a wage-and-hour abuse finding in Wins’ workers’ favor. The Wins case has been tied up in the courts for the past three years, according to the California Department of Industrial Relations, which first filed the suit on behalf of the workers. According to a DIR release, Wins owners Ana Wong and Toha Quan transferred several million dollars in personal property to relatives as the business was failing, and the judge determined that the transfers were a fraudulent attempt to hide the business’s assets from the creditors.
