New Date for Quiksilver Concept Store

Those anticipating the fashion alchemy coming from Quiksilver’s experiments with men’s clothes will have to wait longer. The Huntington Beach, Calif.–based surfwear company has postponed the opening of its young men’s fashion store at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif., until early July. The surfwear giant opted to wait because it had its eyes set on a prime spot at the prestigious shopping center.

The store originally was slated to move into the Sears wing of the mall. The new site will still be situated adjacent to the Roxy store on the shopping center’s second level, overlooking the Carousel Court. Quiksilver felt it could get more foot traffic at the new location, said Steve Jones, the retailer’s vice president for visual display.

Jones said the 1,500-square-foot store will feature a clean design and muted colors instead of a bright, teen-oriented look. —Andrew Asch
