CSULA Sets Spring Textile Production Schedule

California State University, Los Angeles’ new Textile Production and Management certificate program announced its Spring ’05 course lineup. Beginning May 25, the university’s division of extended education will offer two five-week courses: “Knit Constructions” and “Textile Applications.”

“Knit Constructions,” taught by Bruce Hoffa, will cover the basic structure of knitted fabrics, including fabric and yarn analysis, stitch formation, and patterning. The course will be held at a local knit mill.

The class is limited to 12 students, and the fee is $225.The “Textile Applications” course, taught by CSULA staff, will discuss the use of textiles in apparel manufacturing and home furnishings, including legal and ethical issues, research and development, analysis, guidelines, and terminology. The course will be held in suite 212 of The New Mart and will cost $125.

CSULA launched the textile production and management certificate program last year for working professionals in the apparel and textile industry who want to expand their knowledge of textiles. The program offers night and weekend classes, either at The New Mart or on site at apparel and textile facilities.
