L.A. Fashion Week Fall '05: Eduardo Lucero
Eduardo Lucero put his red-carpet gowns on the back burner and focused on streetwear for Fall 2005. This season, he introduced menswear looks into his collection, which also featured new wave–inspired dresses and a smattering of glamorous gowns.
Lucero’s aim was to add elements of surprise, glam and rock ’n’ roll danger to the 41 looks he showed March 16 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City. He punched up basic black with gold Lurex, giving a classic film-noir look to pieces such as a shoulder-belted coat dress and a shrunken blazer. He also juxtaposed bold colors, mixing a cranberry silk chiffon blouse with a metallic-steel three-quarter-length jacket.
Lucero did not forget his roots, however. His bordeaux silk satin bias-cut gown had a classic look. And his other gowns made good on one of his stated goals: adding sex appeal to an already sexy line of clothes.
