DMC Gets Award for FashionCenterDallas
The Dallas Market Center has received a TOBY (The Official Buildings of the Year) award for the $21 million renovation of its World Trade Center, which last year created a new wholesale fashion venue called FashionCenterDallas.
The Washington, D.C.–based Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) presented the award, recognizing the DMC in the local renovation category.
FashionCenterDallas was built to replace the aging International Apparel Mart. The aim was to provide buyers and sellers with an efficient state-of-the-art trading environment. The multi-floor open market has been merchandised into product-category neighborhoods and includes more than 500 permanent showrooms for men’s, women’s and children’s apparel and two floors for temporary exhibits.
“It’s great for the project to be recognized, but the real honors go to all of the people who made it happen,” said David Voss, executive vice president of operations. “The synergy of the design and construction crews, the market center staff, and the tenants made the dream of creating this dynamic fashion marketplace a reality.” —Robert McAllister
