Nova Protest
Garment workers formerly employed by San Francisco–based contractor Nova Knits Inc. held a press conference on May 29 to protest their sudden dismissal from the company and to demand severance, according to the Chinese Progressive Association, an immigrant workers’ rights group in the Bay Area. About 80 workers said they were laid off from the contractor in March with an hour’s notice.
