StyleCAD to Roll Out Upgraded Design System

Los Angeles–based CAD and cutting-room equipment supplier Advanced Computer Equipment is set to release a new version of its StyleCAD pattern-making system.

Version 6, which the company expects to release in the upcoming weeks, will feature new enhancements such as an improved voiceover video tutorial system, upgraded measuring tools and an upgraded instant-check tool for quality control, said vice president of marketing David Scott. The improvements should speed up the training process for new and existing users, he added.

“Training has been reduced to hours, not days,” Scott said. “Precision patterns can now be created with less steps and tools than any other system, manual or computerized.”

Scott said the company’s research showed the system could improve productivity by 30 percent to 60 percent over other CAD systems. Several users, he said, have been able to save at least 10 percent off fabric costs using the system’s marking and grading tools.

One new feature of Version 6 is streamlined navigation, which eliminates back-and-forth movements between menus when performing common operations such as point-and-line manipulation, seam matching and dart manipulation.

Scott said the product has between 300 and 400 users in Southern California and is the top CAD brand in Australia, where it is distributed by Sydney-based Capron Carter Ltd. Users like the simplicity and intuitiveness of the system, he added.

In Los Angeles, the company offers support in English and Korean and markets a line of plotters, cutters and spreaders.
