Miami SwimShow Cruise '06: Swimwear Association of Florida
Approximately 2,000 people attended the Swimwear Association of Florida’s July 17 fashion show at the Jackie Gleason Theater of the Performing Arts, adjacent to the Miami Beach Convention Center. More than 200 lines participated in the Miami Beach–themed show.
A group called “South Beach—Then and Now” opened the show and was followed by a nautical group and retro looks inspired by the 1960s. Gloria Estefan’s hits were clearly the music of choice for the Latin-influenced group. The Bee Gee’s “Night Fever” captured the feeling of glitzy, glamourous suits, and Frank Sinatra evoked the nostalgic mood of a group called “The Rat Pack.” The “Miami Vice” theme song and an image of a flamingo formed the backdrop for the grand finale, which included crystal-decorated suits in baby pink and light blue by Miami-based Luli Fama. —N.
