Rebecca Virtue proved she is a California girl at heart with her fifth Becca collection, themed “A Golden State.”
“I think all the other designers were looking abroad, and I just thought it was important to take care of our own state,” she said.
The Orange County–based designer included everything from floral prints, vintage scarves and bric-a-brac treatments from Napa Valley to the glitter, glam, sparkling gems and paillettes of Hollywood. Designs were complex, with lots of draping and wrapping of fabrics, and had a crafty feeling, with leather fringe, appliqueacute;s and ribbon trims. Virtue incorporated copper studding, beaded medallions and head scarves for a bohemian look and sexy suits in pink and lavender with ruffled trims for a fun, feminine feeling.
