Jeweler Erica Courtney Expands Retail
Los Angeles–based jewelry designer Erica Courtney opened a 1,100-square-foot store July 5 on elite shopping street Robertson Boulevard.
The Robertson store is adjacent to entertainment industry watering hole The Ivy. Courtney leased the place for five years with an option for an additional five years. She said she believes the location will help her develop a new market, despite the fact that she maintains a 1,400-square-foot namesake store less than two miles away at 7465 Beverly Blvd.
“In L.A., everyone is so neighborhood-driven; people only shop where it’s convenient,” she said.
The Robertson store will be dedicated to retail, while the Beverly Boulevard store also will juggle the jeweler’s wholesale and stylist businesses.
Los Angeles interior decorator and feng shui specialist Kim Colwell crafted the design of the Robertson store.
“The only non-negotiable was a pink carpet,” Colwell said. “I wanted to work with pink on pink. I wanted it to be modern, ethereal and be a space where men and women could walk in and say it was beautiful.”
The pinks range from dark to light hues. The store includes a 500-square-foot front selling space, a 300-square-foot office, and a 150-square-foot area where customers can watch television and enjoy a cappuccino while their companions shop for jewelry.
Price points at the store range from $60 to more than $10,000.
The designer also debuted an in-store shop in the Theodore boutique at the Commons at Calabasas shopping center in Calabasas, Calif., in May. —Andrew Asch
