B'atchi
For Jennifer Weir, the owner and designer of B’atchi, formerly known as Satines Lingerie, embellished bra straps weren’t enough. The former animal trainer thought of the idea for removable back bra straps in 2001 and within two years patented the idea and perfected the product.
The bra is available in two different styles: a white lace molded foam cup and a black seamless molded cup. Weir also plans to produce the seamless molded cup in white and nude. Wholesale price points are $11 for the white lace bra, $18 for the black seamless bra, $7 for braided cotton cords and up to $18 for a set of three beaded straps.
Weir’s most popular strap styles are the denim and bead fabrications, but the straps are available in an array of styles and fabrications, including feathers, cotton cords, sequins, lace, floral beads, teardrop beads and costume pearls. The versatile shoulder straps can change into a halter or cross back, adding embellishment to backless or low-back style tops.
“Women are tired of taping themselves and don’t really want to go braless,” said Weir, who added that most of her customers are in the C- and D-cup sizes. T-shirts and camisole styles to match the bra straps will debut at the August MAGIC International trade show in Las Vegas.
