Supermodel to Open Directives West Show
Former supermodel Niki Taylor will make a rare appearance on the runway for the First Stop Los Angeles fashion show, scheduled for Oct. 20 at the California Market Center. The fashion show, produced by the CMC management office and Directives West buying office, will focus specifically on the Los Angeles Contemporary Market, according to Sandy Richman, co-owner of Directives West. “We wanted to do a show when market opened, and we wanted to do an event when all of the retailers would be here,” she said.
The lineup is still being determined for the show, which will take place in the fifth-floor atrium of the CMC’s A wing.Patty Fox, fashion coordinator for the Academy Awards show, will produce the action on the runway. Taylor’s appearance coincides with the launch of her fragrance, Begin, this fall.
Taylor will also be in town as a buyer. The former supermodel opened her upscale women’s clothing store, Abbie & Jesse’s, in Nashville, Tenn., recently and does her buying for the store exclusively in Los Angeles, according to Jamie Nehasil, director of marketing for Taylor’s management company, Tri Star Sports and Entertainment Group, based in Nashville.
