Reef Moves Distribution to Central Calif.
San Diego–based footwear and apparel company Reef, which was acquired by VF Corp. last spring, will relocate its distribution operations to VF’s Visalia, Calif.–based 817,000-square-foot distribution center. The center will handle all of Reef’s shipments by the end of the year.
The center is located in the Midstate 99 Distribution Center and is equipped with technology that is expected to improve efficiency within Reef’s supply chain, company officials said.
The facility is more centralized than Reef’s previous operations, being in between the Port of Oakland and Port of Long Beach, Reef said.
“The combination of expertise and technology that VF will use in delivering Reef’s goods to our customers will help us reach our goals of total on-time deliveries and complete accuracy much sooner than we could have by ourselves,” Reef President Dave Gatto said. “This in turn will help our customers grow their businesses.”
Reef specializes in sandals and bags and also produces boardshorts, T-shirts and other apparel items. VF acquired all the shares in the company last March for an undisclosed sum. —Robert McAllister
