Todd Oldham Coming to CMC
Fashion and interior designer Todd Oldham is coming to the California Market Center on Jan. 18 for a presentation and question-and-answer session with Los Angeles Market Week attendees. The event will be held at 6 p.m. in the CMC’s fashion theater.
Tickets are $25, and proceeds benefit the Otis College of Art & Design student scholarship fund. The event falls between the apparel market, set for Jan. 14–18, and the Los Angeles Gift and Home Market, which will be held Jan. 18–25.
The event will feature a multimedia presentation chronicling Oldham’s career in fashion design, interior design, entertainment and photography. Oldham will discuss his recent collaborations, including his work designing furniture for La-Z-Boy Inc.
Oldham runs the New York–based Todd Oldham Studio, which has done everything from creating a Todd Oldham Barbie for Mattel Inc. to designing costumes for film and television productions such as “Batman Forever.” The former darling of New York’s runways now brings high-end design to the moderate-priced marketplace.
Oldham was among the first fashion designers to bring fashion to the mass market by entering into a venture with Target Corp. He expanded into home furnishings with the retail chain and now is bringing style to furniture showrooms through his new deal with La-Z-Boy.
The CMC event is part of an ongoing series titled “Inside the Designer’s Studio.” Previous speakers included Bob Mackie and Peggy Moffitt. For information and reservations, call (213) 630-3910.
