Koret Gets New CEO
Former May Department Stores Co. executive Stephen F. Powers was named president and chief executive officer of sportswear company Koret, a division of St. Louis–based Kellwood Co. Powers will be based in Oakland, Calif., and will report to Stephen L. Ruzow, president of Kellwood Womenswear. He will be responsible for finance, customer service, retail outlets and information technology within the Koret division.
Powers spent more than 20 years with May Co., most recently as executive vice president of women’s apparel for the May Merchandising Corp. He has held other senior management positions with the company since 1980. In between his stints at May, Powers was president of now-defunct Gruen Watch Co. and was president of Chaus Sportswear during the 1990s. —Robert McAllister
