MAGIC's Fall Forecast
Magic International showcased men’s and women’s contemporary collections for Fall 2005 in the “Vision” fashion show, held daily in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s Grand Lobby during the Feb. 14–17 run of the trade show.
The show presented lines exhibiting at MAGIC in six different trend groups.
“Over the Edge” featured a barrage of printed jacketand- pant ensembles in Fall’s jewel-tone palette. Plaid, graphic-print and solid blazers were worn with T-shirts and paired with jeans and colorful tapestry and corduroy pants for men. Women carried on the whimsical look with structured blazers, silk camisoles, tiered bohemian skirts, dressy lace skirts and striped gaucho pants.
Animal prints decorated the “Wild at Heart” group, which included women’s faux fur and fur-trimmed leather jackets worn with colorful camis and jeans. For men, the look was cleaner, pairing sleek leather blazers and bomber jackets with T-shirts, long-sleeved buttondowns, sweaters and jeans.
Many varieties of the coat, one of Fall’s essentials, were presented in “Softly Coated.” Colors ranged from soft lavender and yellow pastels to jewel-toned greens, purples and reds. Long coats in houndstooth plaid, crushed velvet, herringbone and boucleacute; were matched with dress pants, eclectic skirts and feminine dresses. For men, the key piece was the blazer, which came in textured fabrics such as crushed velvet, jacquard and boucleacute; and was paired with tapestry, velvet and iridescent pants.
“Funk’d-up Haperdashery” got eclectic with edgy black-and-white ensembles. Dashes of red, green and orange jazzed up the look. Pin-striped suits and blazers paired with dress pants were hot for men, while the women wore sporty jackets with cropped pants and sweet sweaters with rebellious plaid skirts.
“The Jean Therapy” trend group showed that we just cannot seem to get enough of denim. Companies including 575, FCUK Jeans, Silver and Imajeanation showed their latest styles. Distressed, painted and washed—all the key looks were there. Turtlenecks, sweater coats and cardigans were worn over T-shirts and long-sleeved tops for a complete casual-cool look.
The finale group, “Dressed to Thrill,” showed that luxe is the mood for Fall. Brocade, tapestry, velvet and satin fabrications added a rich look to the season’s casually elegant evening looks. Colorful printed blazers, sequined camisoles, jeweled skirts and body-skimming dresses were some essential pieces. Fur coats worn by both men and women added a touch of extra glamour. —N. Jayne Seward
