ISAM to Return to CMC
The International Swimwear/Activewear Market, commonly known as ISAM, will return to the California Market Center in October after a three-year hiatus, according to show organizer Barbara Brady.
The show will be held during the Los Angeles Majors Market Oct. 10–12. Swimwear and juniors manufacturers will set up in the CMC’s 13th-floor penthouse pavilion.
In 2002, ISAM moved from downtown Los Angeles to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, hoping to generate buzz with its ocean-side location. The show then moved to Las Vegas and ran concurrently with the August MAGIC International and several other satellite trade shows. The show was held first in the then–newly opened Mandalay Bay Convention Center and then moved to Caesars Palace.
“A lot of people have missed the October show and did not feel the August show replaced it,” said Brady.
The move has been in the works for about a year, according to Brady, who said CMC executives, including Yvette Beltran and Karen Mamont, helped bring the annual trade show back to downtown Los Angeles. The CMC was recently purchased by Jamison Properties, and escrow is expected to close in mid-March. Brady said she also has been working with Jamison executive Joanna Lee to finalize the terms of the ISAM move.
Brady said the ISAM board had not yet determined the fate of the August ISAM show in Las Vegas.
