Sourcing Zone Goes Moroccan at MAGIC
A group of 25 manufacturers from the Kingdom of Morocco will be among the exhibitors at MAGIC International’s The Sourcing Zone during the trade show’s Feb. 14–17 run at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The Morocco contingent was organized by the Moroccan Export Board, which hopes to encourage manufacturers and retailers to take advantage of a free-trade agreement that allows U.S. importers to bring in Moroccan goods duty- and quota-free under certain conditions.
MAGIC organizers have set up sourcing seminars covering everything from fiber sourcing to speed-to-market. Among the seminars scheduled are: “The Benefits of Apparel Sourcing in Diverse Regions of the World,” hosted by Carlos Arias of Koramsa in Guatemala and Yves Robert Lamusse of Palmar Industries in Mauritius, Madagascar and Mozambique; “RFID—Fundamentals, Mandates and Applications in Soft Goods Today,” hosted by TC2; “Retail Sourcing Outlook: Speed-to-Market and the Role of Importers and Agents in the Post-2005 Era,” featuring representatives from Kohl’s and Mast Industries; “Vendor Attributes in a Changing World: What Vendors Will Need to Do to Be Successful in a Quota-Free Environment,” hosted by Gary Ross, vice president of global sourcing and quality control for Liz Claiborne; and “Customs & Border Protection Enforcement and Compliance: Issues Post–January 2005,” presented by Brenda Jacobs, Washington trade counsel to USA-ITA, and Janet Labuda, director of U.S. Customs & Border Protection’s textile enforcement and operations division.
