Christmas Cheer

Children from the Salesian Boys and Girls Club and the Salvation Army Red Shield Community Center stopped by the California Market Center on Dec. 16 for the 61st annual Christmas party hosted by the Textile Association of Los Angeles.

Once again, TALA members collected donations and gifts from several representatives and showrooms in the building, including California Marketing Associates’ Mickey Lang and Russ Berrie, according to committee chair Fran Sude.

The kids snacked on hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, pastries—and oranges—provided by Trimana, Summitt Catering and TALA members.

Michael Goldman reprised his role as Santa Claus, leading a sing-a-long, organizing games for the children to play and telling jokes.

When the children were hard-pressed to name one of Santa’s reindeer, Goldman offered a clue. “Your mom might have it in the kitchen to clean the sink,” he said.

To which several children volunteered, “Ajax?”

In addition to prizes, the children each received a gift from Santa, and TALA also donated $350 to each organization. —Alison A. Nieder
