Wellman Adjusts Poly Price
Fort Mills, S.C.–based fiber maker Wellman Inc. will adjust the price of its Fortrel polyester staple fiber to August levels (plus an additional $0.03 per pound) to reflect the “renewed stability in the supply and cost of its chemical raw materials.” The $0.03 surcharge will cover raw material, energy and transportation costs. In addition to Fortrel, Wellman manufactures polyethylene terephthalate packaging resins under the brand names PermaClear and EcoClear.
