Gerber Names PDM, Asia Execs

Tolland, Conn.–based Gerber Technology Inc. has named two apparel industry veterans to posts in New York and Asia.

Karen Connolly was hired as an account executive for the company’s line of product data management (PDM) products. She will be based in New York and will report to Jonathan Smith, sales manager of PDM/ product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions.

Connolly comes to Gerber with more than 13 years of experience in the apparel industry. She previously worked as a sales and marketing executive for 3i Infotech (formerly ICICI Infotech), which provides integration and customization services for Gerber’s WebPDM product as well as planning, tracking and auditing software for the apparel industry. She also spent nine years at Polo Ralph Lauren, where she held management positions in the men’s and women’s design divisions.

Connolly holds a bachelor’s degree in English and journalism from the University of Richmond.

Brian Muir is Gerber’s new senior customer-service consultant for Southwest Asia. He will be based in Bangalore, India, and will help assist Gerber’s agent, India Industrial Garment Machines Pvt. Ltd., with sales and service.

Gerber Asia Pacific President James Arthurs said the company is positioning itself with the right people for continued growth in one of the world’s largest garment-producing nations.

“At Gerber, we believe that India is going to be a major beneficiary of the changes that are now taking place and that the apparel and textile industries are going to automate at a faster rate than ever before,” Arthurs said. “To support the continuing growth of our customers here, we are continuing to strengthen our presence in the region.”

Muir previously worked for Xerox International, serving the Middle East and the Mediterranean, and was a radio technician in the British Army. —Robert McAllister
