Heatherette Comes to L.A. Fashion District
Heatherette, the New York–based funky contemporary women’s line designed by Richie Rich and Traver Rains, has finally arrived on the West Coast. The collection has taken up residence in the Fille Showroom in the Cooper Design Space.
Fille’s proprietor, Missy Arko, said she is carrying the entire collection of about 70 pieces. The line features denim, T-shirts and dresses with wholesale prices ranging from $36 to $170. Arko said she will also showcase a Fall II lineup in June.
Known for their glitzy clothing and outrageous fashion shows—their latest show had Miss Piggy and Hello Kitty characters sitting in the front row—Rich and Rains have attracted many celebrities, including Paris and Nicky Hilton, Gwen Stefani, and Sarah Jessica Parker. How that translates to the West Coast retail scene will soon be seen.
“Once people get past the runway shows and see it in the showroom, it’s really a very wearable and sellable line,” Arko said. “We’ve got stores calling already. It’s a big name and it gets lots of press, so this will be a bonus for West Coast buyers.”
Fille will highlight signature pieces, including the “Heart” silk chiffon slip dress, which is constructed in different layers and held together with sequins. There are also girly tees featuring Hello Kitty, unicorns and Care Bear prints. Funky sweaters bearing heart and skull emblems, big buttons, reversible short sleeves, zigzag prints and patchwork are also part of the collection. The denim runs from basic styles to those embellished with Swarovski crystals and detailed patchwork.
The line will complement other contemporary labels in the Fille Showroom, including Harvey’s, Meghan, Paala, My Tee and Belka.
